The Teen Choice Awards is always packed with rising stars and teen favorites. Each and every one of them were dressed to impress and their hair and makeup looked absolutely fabulous as well. One up-and-comer who really stood out at this award show was Carly Rae Jepsen. She wore a gorgeous blazer and shorts with her hair down and makeup that really made her eyes stand out.
One reason that her makeup really took center stage was because her hair perfectly framed her face and drew attention to that area. The front pieces of her hair were curved under and were layered to really suit her face. You can easily achieve this by using a round brush while blow drying or by bending the ends in while using a flat iron.
Carly’s eyes look incredible with just the right amount of black shadow. She had a pale shimmery shade in the inner corners of her eyes and rich, dark shadow on the outer corners and along the lower lash line. If you want lashes that look super thick like Carly’s make sure you apply a dark shadow between the lashes and use mascara on both the upper and lower lashes. You can also add false lashes for even more intensity.
The rest of Carly’s makeup was very subtle with a small amount of blush and a subtle rose colored lip gloss. This look would work well for a date night because it is very sultry and intriguing but it is still subtle and doesn’t look overwhelming.
One of the most interesting things to check out at the Teen Choice Awards is the stars and their fashion, hair, and makeup choices. Some prefer to vamp up their appearance with dark, sultry looks while others tone things down with subtle, natural styles. Taylor Swift chose to keep things simple in a gorgeous white dress, a wispy up do, and a natural makeup look.
Taylor wore purple and pink shades of eye shadow on her eyes to enhance their natural blue color without overwhelming them. She darkened up the area around her eyelashes to add just a little bit of fullness to her lashes. She also wore a very light blush with a light pink lip color that really let her natural beauty shine through. See the back after the break. Continue Reading →
Charlize wore a beautiful side style braided bun to this year’s 17th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards. This style has a degree of sophistication with a flirty twist.
Copy this look by parting your hair to the side and pulling it into a low side ponytail on the opposite side of your part. Braid that ponytail and secure it at the end with an elastic band. Wrap the braided ponytail around your original ponytail and bobby pin your braided bun in place. Try this style with your ponytail being damp and use your favorite strong hold hairspray for a finished wet look! An easy style that you can create in 5 minutes!
Since giving birth to her son, Hank Jr., Kendra Wilkinson has slightly toned down her outrageous sexpot image. In recent months, she has been spotted with more subtle, natural looks. Kendra hosted a poolside party at Wet Republic in Las Vegas on March 24, 2012 with a somewhat modest bathing suit and coverup and natural hair and makeup. Her hair was french braided and pulled to one side with beachy waves. Sideswept hair, braids, and beachy waves are all super trendy right now and she mixed up the three into the perfect combination that works both day and night.
To achieve Kendra’s fun, sassy look, follow these simple steps. Braids can be difficult to do on hair that is loaded down with product, so use just a small amount of pomade to add a little bit of grip to your hair and french braid a section of your hair back in the front. To french braid your hair, simply start by braiding as you normally would and then pull sections from the top and bottom into the braid as you work your way back. Make sure you pull the hair tightly as you braid to avoid pieces coming loose. You can either stop part way or continue with a regular braid all the way to the end of the section you are braiding. Use an elastic or bobby pins to hold the braid in place. Continue Reading →
The deep part is a hairstyle that has been spreading like wildfire and Emmy Rossum was not one to miss out on the trend. She debuted a sleek updo with a deep side part at Global Green USA’s 9th Annual Pre-Oscar party on February 22, 2012. Her hair was neatly parted to one side , twisted back on either side and pulled into a sleek ponytail. The part began just above the arch of her brow and suited her face perfectly.
One thing that can be particularly tricky about the deep part is that depending on the beginning of your hair recession or the size and shape of your forehead the deep part may be unflattering so focus on getting the part just right. Some people can pull off deep parts that are extremely distant from the other side of the head but this may not suit everyone. Start by using a rat tooth comb to find the arch of your eyebrow.

Will Katy Perry make blue the new do in 2012? Looks like she is trying too. Do you like the smurf hairstyle of 2012? Come back the rest of the year to Hairstyle Haircuts for the latest Katy Perry Hairstyles.
Blonde is back in a big way. After a wave of brunettes came onto the scene, stars seem to be lightening up their act. Last year, many high profile figures went back to their roots and started experimenting with dark tresses. Now, it seems as though the trend has passed as celebrities and fans alike seem to be rushing into their stylists to lighten their locks.
During the fall and winter months, hombre shades were seen everywhere. This trend allowed people to try out a lighter shade while still keeping a warm tone up top to even out pale winter skin. Since the new year has wrung in, celebrities seem to be ditching warmer golden hues for bold ash and platinum shades of blonde.
Katy Perry just recently changed her hair from black to an orangey shade to pink and now she has settled on a platinum blonde bob which really makes her skin glow. She debuted her brand new tresses while hosting Saturday Night Live in New York. Another celeb who recently brightened her hair hue is Scarlett Johansson. She had a reddish tint in her hair for a movie role but premiered a lighter ashy blonde while promoting her new film We Bought a Zoo on the Today show. Continue Reading →
Kim is known for her bold and daring fashion trends. Always pushing the limits, Kim has made yet another leap with full fringe bangs! Bangs have been making their comeback over the recent years. Some people look great with them and others not so much. Do you think Kim is pulling them off? One thing is for sure, she was turning heads at this New Years Eve Celebration at Tao Las Vegas on December 31, 2011.
Get this same look by asking your stylist to shape some full bangs for you. Keep the length just below your brows and ask for some texture to prevent that freshly cut bang look!
As 2012 rolls in, hair trends are taking a whole new twist. Rather than focusing on “trendy” styles, hairstylists are trying to achieve looks that fit each of their individual clients. This means that you won’t see as many extreme looks like blunt bangs and pixie cuts during the new year. Instead, you will notice natural, face-framing styles that compliment facial structures.
At D&G’s farewell show, bouncy blowouts littered the runway. Long, loose 70′s inspired curls were seen on models throughout the show. To achieve this look, blow dry hair with a round bristled brush after spritzing roots with a volumizing product. Pull sections of hair in an upward motion aiming the blow dryer’s nozzle downward, while slowly turning the brush. Take each section and wrap it around three fingers all the way to the root pinning them with bobby pins and spraying each section with a light hairspray. After you have set all of the sections, let the hair down, mist with a shine spray and lightly brush out the hair.
Another 2012 hairstyle that will be seen is long razored layers, that frame each person’s face. The Bumble & Bumble house’s top stylists are reinventing their razoring technique. Rather than cutting layers with scissors, razoring will be used to create a more textured look.
This year, stylists will concentrate on keeping hair in great condition. There have been so many great conditioning products released in the past few years, so there is no longer any excuse for dry, brittle hair. Make sure to deep condition your hair at least one a week and keep shampooing to a minimum to ensure that your hair stays moisturized. Be on the lookout for shiny, healthy, natural hairstyles in 2012.
